Who are you?

Who are you?

Do you see the brilliance of the diamond
or notice the dust on the skirting board?

Do you hear the birds singing in the trees
or the harassed woman screaming at her kids?

Do you taste the rounded flavour of the wine
or the bitter tannins in the alcohol beneath?

Do you touch the ones you love, with tenderness
or hit out at those who hurt you?

Do you smell the fresh cut grass on a spring lawn
or the odour of dogs who have made their presence known?

Do you view the countryside in all its glory
or see the litter thrown thoughtlessly away?

Do you hear a choir of angels in the morning
or joints complaining as you cry yourself to sleep?

Do you taste the lightness of the pastry
or does the sour taste of failure haunt your mouth?

Do you touch each moment with a thank you
or do you feel that hand of fickle fate?

Do you smell the flowers in your garden
or the scent of time that's passed you by?

Do you love life what'er the situation
or suffer life and take your medication?

Dauphy: It’s not funny!

Hobbo: Good. It’s not meant to be funny.

Dauphy: Our blog, OUR blog asks people to visit the site for a chuckle!

Hobbo: But if you read your job description properly, it also says that we will occasionally make you think.

Dauphy: Well it made me think!

Hobbo: Good!

Dauphy: It made me think that we should stick to the funny ones…….

      • Sorry! Didn’t mean to insult you, or any of your countrymen. Your fine President has, of course, made America great again and Dauphy has slapped my wrists for forgetting that!
No, What I was trying to say is, I think I made the door thing too obvious by highlighting it in bold. I should credit my readers with more common sense, particularly my American onesπŸ™‚

      • We can get common sense on credit? Smashing! Send the US(of)A as much as you can spare. We need it. Sorely. Thank you in advance.

      • No. Visa. Amex’s fees are too high. It’s that YPS (Yuppie Precocious Syndrome). I sincerely hope intelligent WPers don’t watch our exchanges and assume us complete idiots or our machinery running with sand in the oil pan. I have no need to watch for men in white jackets – they are standard equipment here at the Happy Store. You though, might take to looking over your shoulder…

      • Haven’t seen this much upheaval since I was a twerp in the 60’s – early 70’s. I wish it was because Americans were waking up to media and political manipulation, but I see it more as being whipped to a frenzy by it – and all ‘sides’ are affected similarly from my point of view. I’m concerned rougher times are ahead. I too wish for peace, but not simple peace that sacrifices freedom and just shuts up and tunes out of true economic suffering and injustice. So far I’m doing a lot of broad scope watching with great concern. 😦

      • Thanks! Honestly that’s what helps the most and will save us if anything will… thinking of and caring for each other. That’s what’s getting lost in this fray, I fear. And it’s the only thing that really matters in the long run.
