C’est la vie!
C'est la vie
Life is
a cornucopia of contrast
a cruel joke
of juxtapositions.
C'est la vie.
The unimaginable wealth
of royal racehorse owners
and
The life sapping poverty
of the homeless gambling addict.
C'est la vie.
The limitless optimism
of human ideals
and
the actual reality
of everyday life.
C'est la vie.
The glorious beauty
of planet earth
and
our ugly determination
to destroy it.
C'est la vie.
The corrosive corruption
of absolute power
and
the frustrating impotence
of the powerless.
C'est la vie.
Our futile attempts
at cheating death
and
the inexorable
tramp of time.
C'est la vie.
The carefully crafted images
of the poet's pen
and
the thoughtless hatred
vomited on social media.
C'est la vie!
C'est la vie: That's life.

Bravo! At first (title and using that – what is it – Frank languish) I thinked this was surely Dauphy. No! It is Sir Hobbo who has gone all philisoapic. Well done! Thank you. Now a quick slurp of joe, then on to the next Hobboiterature.

Frequently think I should stop ‘blogging’ and just read and comment. Problem there is there’s no continuity. Besides there are few bloggers out there someone (let us not name names) considers worth a daily read. Dauphy for one, ususally Sir PM Hobbo, but many just don’t belly up to the bar. Thank you good sir for your consistency and counsel.

this is a very serious poem for you, Hobbo but it works well; I was wondering where it was going and then the stunning last stanza comes up ; the two sides of our creativity –the sublime and the ugly ; powerful stuff !

Thanks John, I do like to have a crack at serious stuff occasionally. The funny stuff comes easier because I feel a sort of responsibility when I’ve got my serious head on. Glad you appreciate the effort.π
