The one time I very publicly lost my rag is when I filled out my application for a disabled bus pass. The form required a signature, which I was unable to give… because I was disabled. I called them to point this out to them, to ask them what they wanted me to do. “Can’t your carer sign it for you?” came the response. I almost broke my phone when I threw it down, having uttered the words “fuck off you stupid bitch”
So you are absolutely right that the world does not have a clue. Mostly this just comes with the territory, but from people who are actually there to provide services to disabled people, I demand better.
