Brief thoughts
cast lifelong shadows.
Small words
leave the deepest scars,
as harmonious birdsong
on sunlit meadows,
kind deeds
calm the brouhaha.
I listened to an interesting podcast the other day – an interview with a woman who has been trying to change the culture in Australian hospitals. She started with children’s wards specifically but more recently it’s been about kindness. Kindness between staff members. Kindness to patients and families of patients. I think your poem is so right. Kindness is a powerful, powerful thing.

Thanks Worms. Interesting and so right. I did think about calling this poem kindness. Perhaps I should have.
