Land Rover

Land Rover
(To the tune of Wild Rover)

I've been a Land Rover since I was designed
With farmers and shepherds and such like in mind
But now all the world wants to drive four-by-fours
And I can't be a proper Land Rover, no more.

And it's no way, ever,
No way ever, no more
Can I be a Land Rover
Not ever, no more.

They've spruced up my image, it's got past a joke
With all these posh colours and names like Evoke.
I used to get dirty and play in the mud
Now I do the school-runs and never see crud.

And it's no way, ever,
No way ever, no more
Can I be a Land Rover
Not ever, no more.

My four-wheel-drive function is meant for terrain
That's rough as a badger, not smooth as a plain
And yuppies who drive me have not got a clue
What the beast lying under my bonnet can do.

And it's no way, ever,
No way ever, no more
Can I be a Land Rover
Not ever, no more.

Now I'm in fashion, a token of wealth
But all your car parks are not good for my health.
Oh, how I long for the old days of yore
When I'd be a proper Land Rover once more.

And it's no way, ever,
No way ever, no more
Can I be a Land Rover
Not ever, no more.

And it's no way, ever,
No way ever, no more
Can I be a Land Rover
Not ever, no more.
