WP Bug
Since yesterday, WP has been doing weird and not so wonderful things when I am trying to make comments on other writer's blogs. The comments disappear, freeze, jump onto other sites or all sorts of bizarre things. It is happening to others too, so it appears to be a WP issue rather than a laptop fault.
This morning I have tried, with limited success, to comment on the blogs that I follow. It has taken an extraordinary amount of time and even then some of the comments have gone into hiding.
It is a very frustrating situation and until I learn from fellow WP bloggers that it has been resolved, I'm sorry but I will not be commenting on your fantastic blogs. I shall still be reading and liking them, of course.
Now, I can hear some of you murmuring, Hobbo, get on to the WP team and let them sort it. Those who know and understand my complete lack of understanding of I.T will appreciate why I don't do that. I hope it is sorted quickly and thank you for your understanding.
I managed to leave a comment on one of my own posts today saying if I got a job this week, I might buy my own post (instead of Bushboy’s photo). It’s a pretty funny comment to leave on your own post.
๐คฃ It is really strange but it will take a more technical mind than ours to get to the bottom of it. Weirdly, it seems to allow me to reply to comments on my own blog, although I can still see odd things happening in the background!
If you ever use a tablet or a phone for blogging, Mr Bump tells me the app uses different code so you may not have the same issues. I dislike typing on my phone but he’s right. The problem doesn’t occur on my phone.
Commenting here in reply to Adlai Stevenson’s off-hand remark on Winston Churchill’s last post: C’mon, man, understand the cultural differences, accept them, and move on to really important issues. (Just funning here, Hobbs. WP does have a habit of sneaking changes into place which cause unhappy events. To date, while commenting has been an issue for me, it is not currently.)
WP manages to outdo itself in issues. It’s one of its most reliable features!
I recognize the huge effort it is supporting so many users, but aren’t they supposed to be able to do so??
If you do contact the ‘happiness engineers,’ then they’ll know a lot of users are having issues. From my own I.T. experience (trial, error, and knowing how to restart a computer), I can tell you that ensuring programs are updated and clearing out my internet history and cookies has helped poor little WordPress.
Such a pity. If you click this link, does it take you to a Contact page within WordPress where you can register this issue? https://wordpress.com/help/contact
Iโve reported your problem, and they replied โYes, there have been other users reporting problems with the comment section, and the technical team is looking into it. They should solve the issue soon.โ In the meantime, WP issued a technical issues ticket based on your WP Bug post.

Thanks, Misky. I have used the link but whether they get it or do anything, I shall wait and see.

Thank you so much, Misky. I have no idea what a technical issues ticket is, but it sounds positive! ๐

Itโs like a piece of paper, thatโs not a piece of paper, with โHey! Fix this screw up!โ written on it, except that itโs not written. ๐ณ
